The Beaufort West Dutch Reformed parish is the eleventh oldest in South Africa. The original thatched roof church was demolished to make room for the current Neo-gothic church that was completed in 1892. Designed by Scottish architect James Bisset, the elegant white spire is the town’s focal point.
Two sandstone memorials on the church grounds commemorate the lives of two of the earliest ministers. A memorial in honour of Anglo Boer War hero, General Reverend Paul Roux, can also be seen on the grounds.
